Complimentary Examination
At your first visit to our office, a friendly member of our staff will give you a short tour of the office and briefly review your medical and dental history. She will then discuss with you the concerns you would like Dr. Siu to address. Dr. Siu will then greet you and examine your teeth in order to give you a tentative diagnosis and treatment plan if you are ready to start orthodontic treatment. Our financial arrangements coordinator will give you an estimate of fees and help you plan your follow-up appointments to begin orthodontic treatment if it is indicated.
Diagnostic Records
The next step in preparation for orthodontic treatment is to take diagnostic records to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include plaster study models of the teeth, photos of the patient's face and teeth, and orthodontic X-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient.
Consultation
After the doctor has evaluated your records, she will discuss your treatment with you in detail and help you understand how we will proceed. Each patient has a unique diagnosis and treatment plan that suits his or her particular problem. Following the consultation we will begin placing orthodontic appliances.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes one to two hours. You'll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 8 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 40 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.
Payment & Office Policies
Cost
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have several payment plans to suit different budgets. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.
Fees
In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:
- If full payment is made with cash or check at the onset of treatment, we will offer an accounting fee discount. (If you have insurance, we cannot offer this discount.)
- To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over the treatment time.
- For your convenience, we accept payment by Visa, Mastercard and Discover.
Insurance
If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf. Should the insurance company be unable to make the payments as you expected you will be responsible for the remaining balance.
